The easiest ways to build links is to find blog sites that are related to your industry. Read what they say and leave comments, questions or advice. Be real and build links wisely.
wow what can I say :)
Over the past month I have engaged a programmer who had done past work for us (as we outsource programming) now past work should have been a warning sign but we ignored it! Yikes that was foolish wasn't it?
This programmer knew of the deadline that lay ahead, he had been give the word doc of what needed to be done AND I made myself available when ever he needed me to check or ask questions.
Did he deliver? no! He is quite happy to allow my client loose $2 million dollars and no I am not kidding!
My client got an extension for her presentation and even with that extension he just bailed on us!
Lovely hey lol well thanks to guru.com and a previous job we had listed there we saved our favourite programmers and yes the previous programmer was deleted from that list lol
We now have a programmer that is doing all he can working to a deadline being rushed so he doesn't have time to fully look around and see what the program does.
Do you know I can see that he read the word doc given to him, that he understands and knows how to do it lol he is an absolute god send and will save the day for us.
We still have a few more hours to go before the deadline finishes and I know he will do it J
My client will be able to present her new website to the Australian Government, she will win her $2 million, the rental industry hob knobs will eat their words (they say it can't be done lol) she will feature in magazines that have already contacted her and she will be on TV every where! Oh oh oh and she will WIN the competition that she has entered her site into (it is a government competition) she has been short listed already to the top 10!
And boy do I feel proud J I was part of all of this and I can now watch my clients website and business grow J I know she will do extremely well and I know I will get more business from all this and that her site will bring more traffic to my site just to see who created this amazingly simple but complex website lol
I wish her well and thank my programmer who will now get tonnes more work from us he he he the list is already written lol
Be warned everyone, really look into who you are working with, build your team solid so that you can depend on them and make sure you prune out the dead wood that is holding you back!
OH, MY GOD... I'M BLOGGING! Most of you will probably read this and perhaps wonder why this is a big deal for me. Well, up until we decided to get all "internet" with my jewelry business, I never in my wildest imagination thought I would ( or more specifically, could,) be creating a blog. Probably a ho-hum walk in the park for you webmaster types, but believe me - this is a major accomplishment for my feeble internet-phobic self!
So...you may be wondering to yourself, "Why is this befuddled, feeble jewelry artist flailing around trying to blog on a webmaster community site?" Good question. I actually stumbled upon this site and 1) Found it not too intimidating. Maybe because it is just starting out, and 2) Read the existing blogs and it seemed like there was a sense of helpfulness and a desire to share information, which is how I am, and 3) Thought maybe some of the nice people here would take pity on me and help me understand some of the tactics, terminology and such so that I can go forward with the SEO of my web store without getting taken or worse yet doing something inadvertently stupid and getting banned from search engines.
I live in a tiny remote town in the northeastern corner of Utah in the Uintah Basin. We're really at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and it's really beautiful here. I moved here from Riverside CA about 2 years ago, and decided to restart my jewelry business. I was inspired, I guess, by the amazing scenery everywhere you look. Anyway, it quickly became apparent that I needed to make a presence on the internet, so I hired a professional company to design and build my ecommerce website. They're a Utah company, and they came up on the first page of my search, and they were written up in some 500 enterpreneur magazine so I thought WOW, they must be good! Well, 6 weeks past the date they promised the website went "live" . Then we discovered that the cart wasn't functioning right... then we discovered that they never entered the keywords that they were so adamant we provide immediately... then we discovered that "tech support" kicks you into voicemail, and THEN we discovered that there is nobody "up the food chain" that is accountable for making things right. Now, we are in the process of looking for a webmaster to give us assistance in completing that which should have been done before. It seems that the whole internet service industry is still in it's infancy, and unless you know what you should know and ask what you should ask, you may get taken by the less scrupulous "used car salesmen" of the industry.
So, there. I have bared my internet sole, and hope that the good people out there will respond with tips and ideas and advice that I can use to become educated in the ways of the internet Jedi. Help me, Obi Wan.
Education is the most valuable asset. it's the motto of www.infoexposer.com
Internet is a good place to study. But how to find a good place to follow your course?????
It is the most difficult thing. Here are some tactics to follow
1. My first advice is never pay anything before you get the product. Well , It sounds impractical. But there are many cheaters on the internet who show you good world and eat your money.
2. If you are going to follow an online course always search for the "About us" page of their website. Get the address and phone numbers of them. Cross check whether the address and phone numbers are correct. If the institute is well estblished you may folloe the course
3. Never pay for the full course at the begining. Your online course should be step by step process. Pay for the first part of the course. Follow it. If you realize that It is worth you may proceed.
4. My suggestion is that everything you need for education is free on the Internet. All it needs is some effort and time. If your time for serching is worth than the money you pay you may always buy the things you need without serching for free stuff for education. As and example suppose you need to learn "how to assemble a computer" , after spending some time and reading lots of articles you can gain an expert knowledge. After doing it practically by yourself you can become an EXPERT.
5. Always think hundred times before you pay on the internet. "Money back guarantees" wont work everytime.

Does dominating Google rankings quick and easy sound too good to be true? It really isn't. Following are a bunch of surefire SEO tips that have kept hundreds of my clients' sites on top of Google for years, with new ones every month.
There's a lot to cover and I hate long articles that drone on so I'll keep the info short and sweet. Let's start with the domain name.
Caliculate Page ranking

Domain Names
Age:Make sure your domain name is at least six months old. If it's more than a year old, that's even better. Google often (but not always) likes domains to be at least six months old before indexing the site. How do they know? They use a "whois" database like the one at:
http://www.AllWhoIs.com
Go there and enter your domain if you want to see what Google (and anyone else in the world) can instantly know about your site.
TLD Type: TLD stands for Top Level Domain, which is to say the letters after the dot. The best ones to have are ".com, .net. .org and .edu." These get the most play in Google's top 3 rankings for just about every keyword you can imagine, with ".com" and ".edu" being the best.
Embedded Keywords: If you have your main keyword (and ONLY your main keyword) as a dotcom domain name with even just halfway decent page text and some good inbound links you can usually nail number one on Google for that keyword. I've done it dozens of times. It's a no brainer.
Dashes: Having a dash in your domain name might be bad for branding, but it can open whole new doors of opportuníty for your search engine optimization efforts. You see Google treats a dash as a null value (almost like a space) and can take them or leave them with equal indifference. So, if your main keyword phrase is a few words long, you can place a dash between each word. If that's taken, just try one dash separating the first and second words but leave the second and third word grouped together. You get the idea. Just keep trying combinations until you have one that works and scoop up the domain. Even if you sit on it for six months, you'll have it when you want it.
Now on to the next big item; keywords. The best keyword embedded domain name in the world will mean little if nobody is searching for that keyword. That said; let's find the best keywords possible for your site. Here's how...
Keywords:
Keywords in Demand: Let's snoop into Google's keyword database and find some winners. Go to Google Keyword Tool and enter any keyword or phrase you think your target audience is looking for. Now click on the top header link to sort by desired search volume to see which words get the most searches.
Go Long: And don't be afraid to use longer keywords as long as they get plenty of searches. Not only will this narrow the tasks of your workload for actual optimization but it will open all kinds of new options for finding great (dash laden) domain names and even help cut back on your competition.
Narrow Your Field: Now take the top ten or so relevant keywords and phrases and líst them in order of "Approximate Monthly Searches Performed." You might want to paste the keyword into one column of a spreadsheet and the number of searches into the next column. This next part takes a bit of math so we might as well let Excel do it.
Competition:
Competition: Less is Better: "Less is better." Well that's the understatement of the year. But how do you know how much competition you will be up against? It's easy. Simple division does the trick nicely. Here's how...
Google It: Go to Google and paste in your first keyword phrase. Look in the upper right area of the page and see how many pages you will be competing against if you try to optimize for that keyword (Results 1 - 10 of about 123,000,000 for "keyword".) Now record that number in the cell to the right of "searches performed." You can go ahead and do the same for each keyword. When you have all the info you need have Excel divide the number of "competing pages" by the number of "searches performed." The lower the resulting ratio; the better your chances. Your best bet is to take the lowest ratio number with the highest number of "searches performed." This is your optimal target.
Even More: But we're not done yet! Now find the next best two runnerup keywords and write them down in order of importance. We'll need them soon.
Content:
The King Lives!: You're probably sick of hearing it but content really is king. Developing search engine friendly, well optimized content (for REAL people) is key to your success. Google can read a Web page just like a person thanks to its natural text algorithm. So keyword spamming and robotic writing do not work with Google. But here's what DOES work...
Keep it Real: Call a close fríend and tell him or her exactly what you want to tell your web visitors. Then as quick as you can write it down, as close to "word for word" as you can remember. Just let the words flow. You can fix spelling and grammar later.
Fitting In: Now, with your líst of three keywords, go back through your text and fit your most important keyword as close to the beginning of the first sentence as possible. Now go ahead and place your number two keyword someplace else toward the beginning of your first paragraph. Your third keyword should go into the beginning of the second paragraph if possible. Now use only one of your keywords for each of the next three paragraphs. Try to make them fit naturally toward the beginning sentence or two of each paragraph.
Throw in a Curve: Now use a reverse order for the very last paragraph. Put your least important keyword (number 3 pick) at the beginning of the paragraph and your best keyword at the end. This shows consistency (at least as far as Google is concerned.)
Last but not least, do not repeat any keyword more than three or four times on a page. I stick with a 3 x 3 method and it works great (3 keywords each mentioned 3 times over the course of about 9 paragraphs.)
Getting Links and Monitoring Your Site:
Inbound Links: Having high quality inbound links can account for more than 75% of your search engine ranking success. Getting these links is the crucial step that will get you over the top. At the same time you need to monitor your progress and your site's status (how search engines REALLY see it). This will tell you not just where you are - but where you are likely to be. In the old days, we had to do all of the link work and monitoring by hand. And believe me, it took a long time (I averaged about 16 hours per week; per site!). My advice is to find a good SEO tool and let it do the tough and repetitive work for you. If you get hold of the right product, it's the best money you'll ever spend.
I have an ongoing discussion with a Web Developer colleague of mine. He maintains that however, hard we work on a site it will never be as good as a site that has had a qualified Graphic Designer working on it. Furthermore no matter how much we read up on the subject or graphic skills we pick up on the job we will never come close to to the quality of the kind of site a qualified Graphic Designer would achieve.
As an example look at the website of Dual Media and also the site they created for Scream Management. Both these sites are visually very impressive and I agree with my friend that were one of us to be given the brief we probably wouldn't have come close to creating something that looked that good. However, having once seen the site we would certainly have the skills to recreate it and so we would be able to use some of the design ideas to spark off our designs.
I think it is possible to create good looking sites, simply by seeing what what works elsewhere. I'm always on the look out for bits of design that catch my eye, not just on the web but in the real world as well and if I see something that works I will try and incorporate it. The results may not be stunningly original but they don't look too shabby.
Of course, I'm not condoning the wholesale ripping off of other peoples works but I don't think there's anything wrong with taking ideas and reworking them for your own sites. What I find usually happens is that although I may start by using a design element from another site or advert, it generally then evolves as my own personality, tastes and also customer requirements impinge upon the process.
I've a feeling that many Graphic Designers/Web Designers probably do this as well. I believe it's only a few very special individuals who will always be able to create something totally unique and ground-breaking. My friend thinks that Graphic Designers not only have the skills to create the design but more importantly the creative ability to come up with something good out of thin air and it is this ability that we lack.
So who is right?
Dogs in other countries usually have the function of a watchdog or other such duties. In some countries, the dogs are not allowed in the house and have to be on duty all day and night, alerting their owners of intruders. In America, dogs live a better life than many humans. Billions of dollars are spent on our pets. They get designer dog food or at least the best dog food out there. Pet owners treat their dogs as if they were their own children. They dress them up in stylish dog clothes and give them jeweled dog collars and luxury dog beds to sleep on. America is indeed a paradise for dogs.
Today I am asking you to please help me, and other artists who share their work with you on the Internet. There is a bill making it's way through Congress. Bill #2913, the so-called "Orphan Works" bill. This bill would allow any company to use artwork without compensating the artist if they have made a "due diligence" effort (which is not defined in the bill) to locate the artist. What this means is this. Your child colors one of my coloring pages. She does such a lovely job, you scan it and put it up on your blog. A couple of people see it and like it so much they copy the image and put it on their webpage or blog without crediting the source. A company exec sees it. He likes it, too. But no one gave credit, so he doesn't know whose art it is. Oh well. The company puts it on a million t-shirts. No one, not me, not you, hot your child, gets a dime for the art. I also do clip art. I ask for credit, but not everyone remembers and I'm not going to go around knocking heads over it. So someone likes, say, my drawings of boxer dogs. She puts one on her MySpace page. Again, a company exec sees it. He might even write her and ask who the artist was, but she doesn't remember. Out go a million boxer dog stickers with my art. I don't get a dime. Your artistic 12 year old son draws a neat dragon. He scans it and shares it on his Deviant Art page, but as advised by his wise parents, he doesn't have any personal identifiable info on his account. Again, a company exec sees it. He can't identify or contact the artist (your well protected son). Oh well. A few thousand posters are sold with the dragon your son drew. No one gets paid for the art. What can you or I do if that happens? Not much. Try to hire a lawyer who can fight against a big corps law firm, when there are a million loopholes left in the law. Not much chance we'd win. I am trying to make a living, however humble, with my art. I provide coloring pages and clip art free to individuals, families, non-profit organizations, and often even other small business people like myself. Even the smallest royalty would be a great windfall of income to me. Or if you want one of my boxer dogs on a sticker, you can buy it through my own little Zazzle store where at least I do get a small royalty. Never mind me, the bottom line is artists deserve to be paid for the use of their work - just like you deserve to be paid for the hours you put in at your job, whatever it may be. We do not deserve to be punished for sharing our work freely by allowing big corps to make a profit without paying us a dime for our contribution to it. How big is that contribution? Do you buy a t-shirt with a boxer dog on it because you like the picture of the boxer dog, or because you wanted any old t-shirt that size? So, please, help me, help other artists. Take one minute from your day today and sign this petition. Take maybe an hour (it took me 30 minutes this morning) to write your congress members (You can find out who they are, and how to contact them here) and ask them to vote against this bill. Most of them have no idea what it is really about, or what the implications are for artists. You can read more about the bill here and a more detailed report with further links here. Or a really scary (for me as an artist) detailed article on what this bill will allow is here Thank you so much for your time, and for your help. I'll be spending a couple of hours on this today, sharing these links at all my blogs and social sites, and then I can get down to drawing some new coloring pages for you. Summer Fey Foovay
Hey, Its good to be back. I took a little vacation this week, just a few days, and I enjoyed it very much. It was good to get away from the everyday grind of the work world.
While I was away, I was a little concerned that my Web design business would not be productive. I was wrong of course. In fact, the business grew. I came back to a couple of referrals and a new customer. Why or how did that happen? Two things we do every day served to help our business grow. 1). Good old fashion customer service, and, 2). Search engine marketing at the local level.
Never forget your current customers. Its very important to stay in touch with them at least once a month. Send an email, offer a new service or product, even if thay can't use it or need it now. Making special offers lets them know that your still in business and your still there for them should they need you. It also reminds them to contact you for any new work they may have or even to send you referrals. I keep my marketing emails simple and to the point. A short newsletter with a short article about how to grow their business through their Website along with an ad for our products and services always seems to work. Local search engine marketing is also important. Many search engines offer a free listing like Google Maps, Yahoo! Local and MSN Live all have a free business listing you should take advantage of. Running a search for local search engines will give you additional resources for your area and many only require a simple link back for a good position in their listing. Later, as your business grows, you can take advantage of their preimum services.
So, work hard, provide your customers with good service, get listed and go on vacation. You'll be glad you did.
